A man and his coffee

Sunlight is an ancient promise. Its beams slips through the window, weaving its gentle invitation to join the day. A weary set of eyes begin to flutter open, drawn reluctantly to the light as it dances through the curtains. The duvet presses down, heavy but comforting. He doesn’t want to accept the sun’s call, but he knows he cannot ignore it forever.

A sigh escapes, and silence is broken. His legs swing over the bed, and his feet collide with the cold floor. One foot is placed in front of another and after an insignificant time he finds himself in his kitchen. It is quiet, save for the gentle hum of life happening outwith his home.

A kettle is filled, a switch is flicked, a cup is poured. A familiar scent fills the air. Sunlight begins to catch the counter, gently insistent that the day will not wait for him. Minutes pass in silence, in thought and sound. A tickle of warmth hits his arm and the insistence becomes louder. A sigh escapes and he takes a seat.
